Human history has witnessed the emergence of multiple civilizations; some have vanished, while others have remained alive, actively contributing to the course of civilizational development.

There is no doubt that civilizational communication, a process of give-and-take within the dialectical relationship between thought and reality, will continue to drive the wheels of construction, progress, and civilizational evolution.

The ancient Eastern civilizations, particularly those of the Nile Valley and Mesopotamia, had a significant impact on the rise of Greek civilization, which was distinguished by the strength of its intellectual elements, especially philosophy. This civilization, in turn, played an active role in the development of the Arab-Islamic civilization during the Middle Ages, which was then the world's, or the universal human, civilization. This civilization was transmitted to Europe, becoming one of the most important factors in its Renaissance.

If Western civilization is now the dominant one—the civilization of science and technology—it will not be the final stage or the end of the historical march of civilizational development. In fact, many Western thinkers express fears in their writings about the fate of this civilization, asserting that it is currently undergoing a phase of decline and deterioration due to the absence of moral and ethical values and its focus on materialism.

The human civilization built by generations across the ages is now threatened by weapons of mass destruction—nuclear, chemical, and biological—if humanity succumbs to its animalistic instincts and is stripped of values, ethics, and rationality. The minds that created, discovered, and invented, and now possess these weapons, are the ones that must engage in a rational dialogue to advance the outcomes of science and direct its applications for the good of humanity.
