In this scholarly study, the author discusses the philosophy of a giant of modern European thought, Immanuel Kant, who managed to stamp his character on most philosophical currents of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Kant built his philosophy on the duality of the subject and object, or thought and reality. He had a stance on intellectual intuition and the world of phenomena, paid close attention to the metaphysical problem, and clarified the dual task of critical philosophy.
He spoke about the connection between theoretical and practical reason, and wrote about world peace, championing freedom and democracy. The study raises important questions: What are the most prominent features of Kant's personality? How was his genius manifested in his belief in the moral law and his critique of the kingdom of judgment? And is Kant's philosophy still alive in contemporary thought?
